About the Role
Behaviour Support Assistants are specialists, with a background in or partially completed tertiary qualifications in relevant disciplines, such as psychology, social sciences, human services, speech pathology, occupational therapy, or social work, and will be working to complete behavioural training and experience.
Reporting directly to the Director, the Behaviour Support Assistant will be coached in understanding the elements of behaviour support assessment and intervention. This includes the assessment, design, implementation, and evaluation of Positive Behaviour Support services delivered to adults and children with disability in line with their NDIS Plan, individual needs, and goals.
Behaviour Support Assistants will work in consultation with a Behaviour Support Practitioner to assist with delivery of work with individuals and their support networks to develop positive behaviour support plans to manage and prevent behaviours of concern, improve the individual’s quality of life, and reduce or eliminate the need for the use of restrictive practices being utilised in the individual’s supports. Behaviour Support Assistants assist in the input and analysis of behavioural data to contribute to case formulation, consultation with providers to improve collection of behavioural data, assist in case formulation and development of both proactive and reactive risk management strategies.
The Behaviour Support Practitioner is required to undertake behaviour support assessments, including functional behaviour assessments and develop behaviour support plans that may contain the use of restrictive practices – NDIS (Provider Registration and Practice Standards) Rules 2018, Section 5.

Tasks & Responsibilities
Monitoring client data across multiple systems including MYPCorp and Onedrive.
Inputting behavioural data and completing data analysis
Collaborating effectively with behaviour support practitioners, the Director, clients, and their support networks, contributing effectively to quality service provision and effective outcomes with the aim of reducing or eliminating restrictive practices.
Assist in uploading behaviour support plans to the NDIS portal
Reviewing positive behaviour support plans when required.
Providing training and coaching to staff and families (as relevant) in the PBSP and implementation of strategies.
Complying with all reporting requirements both internally and externally
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills and computer literacy skills.
Ability to maintain clinical standards of record keeping and report writing and ensure progress and case notes are completed in a timely manner and uploaded to the client information management system (as appropriate).
